The Other Side of the Bridge – Mary Lawson

I totally enjoyed Mary Lawson’s award winning first novel, Crow Lake, so when I picked up The Other Side of the Bridge, I was hoping for another great book, and I was not disappointed.  This story follows two families whose lives intersect in the fictional town of Struan, Northern Ontario, from the 1920s through the Depression, World War II, and into the era of television.  Anyone who grew up in Ontario’s north will be taken for an authentic ride back in time. Readers who have never been there might come away feeling like they have.  This books flows beautifully from page one right through to a very satisfying ending. (submitted by LC)

  1. I loved this book! It was a while ago now that I read it, but I remember it had an amazing sense of time and place.
