How I Live Now – Meg Rosoff

how_i_live_now_imageHere’s a good one: dystopian, future-setting, fictional world war 3, psychedelic drugs, and a questionable relationship between a teenage girl and her distant (?) cousin J. Plus, the main character travels from New York to England and then it’s all about England while she’s there – double travel! What could be better? (submitted by JM)

  1. I was actually disappointed with this book. Based on the blurb in this blog here, I was intrigued. There are a few stretches on what the book is actually about. Among other things, the “psychedelic drugs” the the blogger mentions, happened once, by accident; and they hardly touch on it except a few paragraphs worth of bad dreams. The book’s setting takes place 99.9% of the time in England, so I would hardly call it “double travel.” And the FIRST cousin (read: mother’s sister’s son!), his name was Edmond.
I’m wondering, did the blogger read the book or happened upon the blurb on the back of the book and decide it would be good?
